The exterior wall is composed of composite metal panels and glass. A subtle differentiation in color distinguishes the Primary School from the High School.

A secure plaza, set back from the street, offers access to the PS lobby, providing a safe, orderly space for morning queuing and afternoon dismissal. Throughout the day, the plaza can be used by the D75 School as an outdoor play area.

At the sixth floor setback an Outdoor Play Area is comprised of three types of spaces for active play, climbing equipment and quiet play.

The PS Lobby is conceived as an extension of the Entry Plaza. The presence of large-scale artwork and pin-up board, an array of linear light fixtures in the ceiling and a semi-reflective floor give the space a light and playful feel.

The PS Library is located at the entry corner of the PS, with exposures to the PS Plaza and 56th Street. Abundant natural light is enhanced with light-colored interior finishes throughout. The Reading Nook provides an intimate gathering area for reading, storytelling and group discussion. The cushioned seats can be stacked and ordered in a variety of different configurations.

The PS Gymnasium is painted with bands of color that map a transition between the saturated color of the wall pads and the white exposed structure of the ceiling. The effect gives a sense of lightness to an underground space.

A soft yellow-green hue gives the PS Cafeteria a bright, pleasant feel.

A continuous tackable wall surface allows student work to constantly redefine the interior. The floor and tiles are a neutral light grey while the wall color varies from floor to floor.

A 500-seat auditorium is provided for shared use by the HS and PS. Acoustic wood paneling wraps the space and connects seamlessly to the stage.
